QF don't need to offer a status match, they effectively have a monopoly on J class and the business traveller market shortly.

On the plus side you are very lucky having such a short wait time, many people have reported waiting several hours.

The calculations for my platinum edge are simple. Now general spend $1=1mile via MR. After april $1=0.5mile. Definately much worse off despite the fluff and confusion floating around.

I personally would not, It's not a great discount or anything just sounds better as you are only paying for one sector out of 4. However, it would be a nice way to experience SQ J on a great airline and airplane.

I must be getting old and cynical because those calculations you shared seem way too simple to be anything close to behind the scenes information. All the info there is just a ticket price and a seat count. Qantas would have had to crunch the numbers in way more depth to have accurate figure...
