QF15/16 cancellation

Looks like one of the A330's doing the BNE-AKL-BNE, BNE-LAX-BNE is out of action for the last few weeks.

I have a flight with them on wednesday, which i believe is operating, but i want to check the return leg, which is coming back on the sunday from LAX, which is the one that is being cancelled.

Any experts here can identify if the A330 is on maintenance, and if so, when is it coming back, or if i should call QF to see if they are going to put me on another flight and route me via SYD etc?

You definitely should contact Qantas asap to see what is happening. Do you have status? The more of that you have the more your negotiating power. Notice that Fiji Air (Oneworld Connect partner) has a flight to BNE via Nadi departing LAX about 2.5 hours after scheduled QF 16. There's a 2.5 hour stop (and aircraft change?) in NAN yet this might be preferred to via SYD. Fiji Air use a350 with lie flat J for LAX-NAN.

Looks like the aircraft scheduled to operate it went to Mel and then flew a very delayed QF39 to Jakarta. I wonder why they made that call??

My guess would be that with multiple QF services to/from LAX or other US destinations that there was suitable recovery for customers within 24 hours. CGK would have limited recovery options, so they've protected that flight. Just a guess.
