38 JK recline propley, 36 AB does have some limitations. One thing I notice everytime I fly at the rear of the top deck in any config, is that the aircraft feels like it osolates from side to side, you also notice any pitching rolling more than anywhere else onboard. On one flight from SIN to LHR I heard the movements were so bad things were falling off the trolley! Apparently the flight deck dont realise how bad it is back there until someone tells them.
I have requested the seat but not holding my breath as I have heard that these are usually reserved for Platinum FF's and the best I can do is get to check-in early and hope for the best. I have flown business on the A380 on the same route (SYD-SIN) and didn't find that I had too many problems with any rocking/rolling but we didn't hit any turbulence either so I couldn't vouch for anything out of the ordinary.'
I flew in 38K on QF10 last year and in my opinion that seat combination is the best pick in the cabin! You have endless leg room and there isnt too much in the way of foot traffic either. Seat guru lists possible sound from the self serve bar as an issue; however, this is not a problem. The 'self serve bar' has a few snacks and bottles of wine, but with attentive flight attendants most people seem to stay in their seats and press the attendant button!
Toilets are on the other side of the cabin, so no issues there. As for being reserved for Platinums, well I was QFF Silver when I booked the flight and picked the seat 3 months out....so Im not sure what is happening with those seats being reserved for Gold/Plat!

Has anyone sat in 38J A380 Prem Econ Qantas? Would like to know if the seats recline properly given their location to the back wall of the cabin.

38J is one of the best PE seats on the A380. See http://www.ausbt.com.au/the-best-seats-in-premium-economy-on-qantas-a380
