Remember when you could travel First to BKK on QF? Just got a call from Ansett ver 3 (QF) that Fridays service (October booking) is now dead. Is Qantas still claiming victim status on its market share when it doesn't fly anywhere anymore? Thoughts.

Qantas hasn't cut or reduced its daily Bangkok service, it just appears to have cancelled a few sporadic services between October and December.

I suspect this is due to the A330 refurbishment programme schedule for this period. The Bangkok route may just be an easy service to cancel based on poor load factors because of the political situation in Thailand and the fact that alternate flights (routing via SIN or HKG) would be relatively easy to find through partners such as Bangkok Airways and Cathay Pacific.

my thoughts are related more to the posts of some people, that QF should continue to fly/have a particular product/frequencies WHENEVER/WHEREVR at ANY COST (ahhhhh, the good 'ol days)... when will people realize, 'that was then...this is now'..QF is a business..  those are my thoughts!!

Remember when you could go on AusBT Q&A without having to read endless rants and whinges from self-centred, self-important people who want Qantas to fly everywhere nonstop?

Ah, I too yearn for the good old days when Qantas only flew to Bangkok a handful of times a week, in conjunction with Singapore services which meant that a stop was often necessary on one or both directions.

Not.

Seriously, it is a miracle that Qantas still flies to Bangkok at all. You can complain about San Francisco or Mumbai or Beijing or even the loss of the old overnight SYD-HKG flight (which was a real tragedy IMO) but you can't complain about a few random flights to Bangkok being cut in the lowest of the low-season.

SFO and HKG red-eye were tragic, but BOM and PEK were probably too thin for their time (and weren't nonstop, I believe).

As any business goes through restructuring in this case Qantas it will resurface a better airline ,in the mean time some changes will be bad some good it just matters which side of the fence your on and what stage the restructure is at !! Time will tell !!
