Hi ET - can I make a suggestion and implement the function that allows users to be able to edit (or even delete) a comment that they post to an article.
The amount of times typing on a phone screen and missing spelling mistakes etc - an easy fix if I could go back and edit - and judging from other comments Ive read some people need this function also!
I too would certainly support some level of defined EDIT options for the poster. As it is, the EDIT function SOMETIMES appears and allows you to EDIT or even delete a first time / existing posts, but that does not appear for all or for subsequent views of the post (by the originator). It is very random. The visual clue or easy way to tell is to look at your post(s) and see if there is a lower case red "x" at the end of the measurement tools (up/down, edit post and finally, delete post etc). Sometimes it will appear for a post that you've lodged a few days ago or not at all for others.
But for 'response' posts to another member's post, it never seems to appear.
I would not support static user-deletion of posts, since this can ruin continuity and readability when someone replies to a post that may have been subsequently deleted.
And I've had the experience about 3 times now where I add a comment, but the whole thing simply disappears when I hit "post". Particularly annoying when it's a fairly lengthy piece that I've spent 20 minutes composing!

Hello John, sorry to hear about that. Are you using multiple tabs with ET open by any chance?

I have had the same experience as John and only a single tab open with AusBT at a time

I'm not sure, but possibly, as I quite often have multiple ET tabs open.
EDIT: I posted this reply with multiple tabs open and it worked!

Some programs have a 30minute open to edit function very handy for proofing errors or too tone down a more outrageous comment.
