Does anyone know how Sydney Airport international to domestic transfers work when flying Qantas currently?
Am I right in reading that we now have to take our bags to the domestic terminal ourselves with the seamless transfers desk closed? Any experiences would be kindly appreciated.
The Qantas website says trains on the Sydney Airport operated T-Bus is my best bet, but in that case I would have to take my luggage with me or is the transfer drop off site still in place?
We flew into Sydney 2 weeks ago from LAX. The experience of rechecking bags and the bus to domestic was not like normal. You had to put your own bags onto a belt and there was only one person at a time. Suffice to say it was mayhem. There was a Qantas bus, but it left roadside and deposited you at the domestic check-in level roadside. They also directed some people to the T-Bus to meet demand. Was not the usual smooth transition from the pre-COVID times! With tourists now allowed back I hope they have brought back the old system as one plane load of people was enough to tax the system...
Outbound the transfer buses are working as normal but with reduced frequency. Inbound is a mess as NSW health is using the transfer area; Qantas now parks a bus outside the transfer area that runs roadside to domestic check-in.

If the qantas transfer is still not open then the train is probably the easiest, but with more flights the qantas transfer should open soon.

Agree, if no QF bus the train is best bet.
