The novel 'superjumbo restaurant' concept clearly has wings, with Singapore Airlines adding two more dates for lunch and dinner.

Singapore Airlines will extend its novel Airbus A380 restaurant experience after all seats for the first two dates were snapped up within 30 minutes after bookings opened at midnight on Monday October 12.

Lunches on Saturday October 24 and Sunday October 25 were priced at SGD$600 in the A380's spacious first class suites, SGD$300 for a business class seat, SGD$90 for premium economy and SGD$50 for economy class.

Customers who were unable to make a reservation after 12.30am were invited to join a wait list, which has since also been closed.

It's reported that scalpers have already begun re-selling spaces through some web sites: one listing priced two first class 'tickets' at SGD$3,000, compared to the airline's original asking price of SGD$1,200.

The airline says that in response to clearly staggering demand, bookings will soon be opened for dinners on October 24-25, along with lunch and dinner on Saturday October 31 and Sunday November 1.

Only around half of the A380's 475 seats can be used for dining, the airline said in a statement, in accordance with the city-state's guidelines on group limits and distancing in restaurants.

The A380's business class menu for lunch begins with the airline's signature satay, after which diners can choose between an international selection – including the popular Book the Cook grilled beef fillet – or a local Peranakan menu designed by Singaporean chef Shermay Lee.

As previously reported, Singapore Airlines is now also offering home delivery of its inflight meals, with the top-shelf dining packages for two including caviar, Dom Perignon champagne and Wedgwood bone china dinnerware.

The seven dine-at-home packages are built around ten curated first and business class menus designed for the airline's flights to Sydney, Tokyo, Paris and Delhi.

There's also an option to book a chef who will "reheat, plate and serve" your repast .

Singapore Airlines describes this as "the perfect gift for an anniversary or a special occasion, or a way to thank parents or grandparents by gifting a touch of true dining luxury."
