I just meant that treating crew with respect and as the professionals they are is better than expecting to be served. I find that good customer service is as much about the way I treat staff as it is the other way around.

Crew are not there to ‘serve’ passengers. They are there to provide a service. There is a difference.

I just walked past the new checkin area at T1 and they have signs up directing US bound travelers to the standard assisted checkin desks.

In many ways your experience is what you make it. If you treated the crew the way you wrote this complaint then I have no doubt you had a horrible experience. I’ve witnessed some appalling behaviour on aircraft and have no doubt these people went on to write similar rants. Even the economy ...
