The unrefurbished VH-OQB had been doing the SYD-LAX sector for some months, but departed for Abu Dhabi on 10th May for maintenance or refurbishment. The route is currently being done by the refurbished OQD & OQK aircraft.
Two more refurbed A380s have recently come out of storage from Victorville to be used on QF1/2 from 19th June.
The Qantas operation across the Pacific right now is a mess. Old unrefurbished A380, last minute schedule changes (a friends LA-SYD was retime to 0930!!) and A330 aircraft without adequate crew rests.
For consistent product you have to fly Delta or United.

OQB only operated for two weeks when they added the second Sydney LAX QF17.
OQJ is now back in the country operating QF93. OQH is in Abu Dhabi doing its C check and will be back soon and OQG is in the Los Angeles hanger ready to come home.

A refurbished A330 from Brisbane and refurbished A380s and 787s from Melbourne and Sydney does not make a mess. Unrefurbished A380 VH-OQB was on QF17 and sometimes QF11 for two weeks and the seat maps reflected that from when they went on sale.
Give your Qantas hate a spell mate. United are flying 787s with 2-2-2 business seating as well. Just be happy our airline didn’t fold during covid and have to get aircraft that spent two years in the desert in airworthy condition.
American, United and Delta are consistent for their inconsistencies. Dreadful or amazing, take your pick.

There is a trip report by VolvoMike on Flyertalk stating he flew a non-refurbished A380 in F on Qantas on 2/5/22
I thought they were only using the ones that had the makeover?
