Considering the last open to all DSC offer is for flights through to the end of August, unless QF is very desperate for bookings it seems doubtful they’d do an open to all offer until at least next month sometime, but QF does love to surprise with the timing.

Is anyone aware of the logic/rationale behind selecting some passengers for the DSC offer and not others? Thanks. It would be useful for ABT to ask Qantas this directly.

Not 100% sure BUT I have noticed that when I have logged onto my account and searched for flights and do this maybe a few times because I am genuinely interested in booking (but trying to work out best times/routes/prices etc), BUT still have not booked, then I will get an email with a special offer, be it bonus points, DSC, hotel sweetener deals. So perhaps that has something to do with it :)

Many people (including me) have seen this happen before.

You log in to QFF account, search for a flight a few time and try different date combinations and leave it at that. After a few days or may be the next day, chances of you seeing an email from Qantas offering DSC for that continent or nearby places are very high.

I have seen this happen quite a few times for me and others who observed this behaviour have documented the same in the link below :

I started this community discussion when I thought what I received was a direct (or not so indirect) result of my searching for flights on a specific route

Ha! Literally within minutes of posting my comment, I received this from QF in an email:

Hi Andrew,
Planning your next adventure? Reach your next reward faster with double Qantas Points on eligible Qantas operated international flights with a QF flight number.*

How to earn double Qantas Points
  1. Register between 12.01am (AEST) 8 May 2019 and 11.59pm (AEST) 13 May 2019.
  2. Book a Qantas operated international flight with a QF flight number between 8 and 13 May 2019, for travel between 14 May 2019 and 24 April 2020.

Only two days ago did I search for flights between HKG and MEL, ADL, SYD, BRI for Chinese New Year period and Easter 2020.

Bingo!! I haven't received mine yet. I was searching for some random flights to do a status run, let's see if I'm lucky to receive DSC email from Qantas

I received the DSC offer in April but not this one. I agree with most/all above on who targeted emails are sent to but it doesn't seem to be a simple formula. April nowhere near my anniversary date, plenty of flights already booked and fly anywhere (I usually fly in the Asia/Pacific region). All the being said, it looks like Qantas is certainly drilling down customer searches/travel etc when targeting members. DSC offers do provide an incentive to book flights earlier and this would provide Qantas cash upfront rather than down the line. Whatever the reason, DSC offers are certainly attractive when climbing the greasy Platinum pole.

Yes but my post was about the link between flight searches and some type of promotional offer. I posted given the coincidence.

Like yesterday when I received a double status credit offer for Qantas operated international flights. These are to be booked before 22 May for travel between 23 May 2019 and 9 May 2020
