I recently booked J return BNE-SYD-PEK during a double status promotion. The return leg was cancelled and qantas rebooked me with Cathay PEK-HKG-BNE business. I was expecting 160 status credits from my original

booking plus the extra 160. The Cathay flight only amounts to 120 credits. Will I be able to ask
Qantas to credit me 40 status credits plus the expected 160 status credit bonus the lost from my original booking ?

You will need to ask QF for the Original Routing Credit (ORC). As the change wasn't voluntary it shouldn't be an issue, but be clear when you contact them that you are claiming the 40 + the DSC

IMHO, Yes, you'd be able to. If the flights are cancelled by Qantas and you're rebooked, you can claim original routing credits. Call the customer service and ask them to.

Someone in this forum can advise/correct me, if otherwise

I recently had a similar issue, made a phone call to QFF and the status credits under the original routing were credited......no questions, no issues.

Make sure you have your original ticket / booking to send them. Cathay downgraded me in Jan and Qantas took care if it with no issues at all.

Shouldn’t be an issue, I had a last minute cancelled QF flight that had to connect with another so QF actually booked me on VA for both legs to get me where I had to go, and save collecting bags on the connection, I just rang up afterwards and both the original SC amount and the double credits were added to my account, no questions asked,

Great to see that although there is no contractual requirement to provide the credits that in this case the “loyalty” appears to work both ways...but in the end QF will be the beneficiary of all our loyalty! Common sense prevails though.

I was once returning to Aus from South America in J with Qantas had a connection in Auckland(Latam)

Well my flight destination was Perth via Sydney and the Sydney leg was cancelled and strangely enough Qantas didn't send me to Perth via Melbourne or Brisbane they just straight up put on an Air NZ flight direct to Perth (Which I was absolutely stoked about getting J in Air NZ 787 not a recliner 737 and also missing Immigration in Sydney) I credited them miles to my SQ KF account. If I had contacted Qantas in tbis circumstance would they of credited my original status credit earn to Qantas as well? Would of been double dipping but is actually handy to know if I was ever so lucky to score that chance again.

Yes, you would have been able to claim those.
