If you were in charge of a refreshed Virgin Australia would you pay the licence fee for the name & branding or would you choose something new? If new, What would your thoughts on a name?
I thinks it's down to if Branson/Virgin Group still a
shareholder?
If Yes: I think that they will keep the Virgin Brand. (From memory
that pay a royalty of $10 Million plus a small percentage of sales, I'd be looking
for savings given the current circumstances).
If No: Rebrand - pay a consultant about $40+ Million to
rebrand and create a new brand identity (i.e. Name, Logo, Uniform, Website,
Business card, Name Badges, Marketing Material, Visual Branding, Audio
Branding, and More). Think of a rebrand
like Telstra did back in 2011 that took a few years plus a new name. See a
video of Telstra rebrand here: https://youtu.be/Rlwol9oj7sk

What would be the point of paying a firm $40m+ to do a rebrand when you'd then have to repaint aircraft and change cabin interiors, reproduce thousands of pieces of uniform, redevelop airport terminals that have recently been updated, reprint millions of FF cards and tags, reproduce marketing materials and then try to build up the new brands awareness with the public when you could just keep paying $10m to licence the Virgin name, which everyone knows, and keep things as they are?
Should they rebrand? Not immediately as a rebrand is extremely expensive. In the future? Ansett has a nice ring to it, but probably has licensing associated as well.

Dromaius Airlines (aka Emu Air), still to take off...
Possibly more successful than Kiwi (KC), which although it did fly, didn't fly very long...

What is Eureka Airlines? The business plan that is being shopped around for another airline to enter the market.
