Does Qantas still have A330s with the old Skybed?

I travel to Asia often on Qantas, and have enjoyed the business suites for some time now. However, I’ve noticed that QF24 from BKK to SYD on January 19 has a 2-2-2 layout in Business. Is Qantas not finished upgrading all their A330s yet?

Yes 2 A330-200s still have Skybed 1. They were not included in the fleet upgrade because the plan was to return them at the end of their leases, but the plan changed. I thought there had been talk of upgrading them sometime in the near future.

EBG and EBL, usually on the PEK run but pop up occasionally elsewhere. Avoid like the plague if at all possible!

Absolutely! The original Skybed 1 is like it's from the Flying High plane.

A slight exaggeration - that movie was from 1981, when First Class was still recliner seats!!

I copped one on QF6 home to SYD from SIN a few weeks ago. Adding insult to injury (literal injury - I could barely walk for half a day after falling asleep on that horrible thing), I had coughed up an enormous amount of points to upgrade from Y to J, in the false hope it would be on one of the newer fit-outs. Live and learn...

Slap in the face when they charge you the same price as the refurbed aircraft. EBG and EBL are regulars on QF5/6 rotation. Only good thing is no queue for lavs...

I've heard they mainly do the PEK route too, however I got one from HKG-SYD and wasn't impressed.

Everyone, including the crew, hate the A330-200's. It's been a disgrace that Qantas keeps this old metal in the air and charging the same BC fares. I'm told there will be a $30M upgrade of these dinosaurs starting soon. Had Qantas done this in the beginning it would have been much cheaper. I suggest flyers go over the planes prior to booking. Maybe if the old 200 metal is empty then this will make Qantas quicken its pace to upgrade to the Business suites. From March 2018 the A380's will be flying the SNG route, I wonder where the dinosaurs will go.

The two (out of 18) A330-200 that have not been refurbished are 9 and 10 years old. Hardly dinosaurs.
