Melbourne Airport gets Woolworths 'Click, Fly & Collect' store

Melbourne Airport has scored a unique first as home to a Woolworths store where travellers can grab their groceries shortly after stepping off the plane, and other airports could follow in its wake.
The Click, Fly & Collect service lets Woolies customers shop online or via the Woolworths smartphone app and then pick up their order from the store, which is located in Melbourne Airport’s terminal forecourt.
"Our Melbourne customers can simply order their groceries online or via the Woolworths app and choose to collect them at Melbourne Airport with the peace of mind that they never need to come home to an empty pantry or fridge" said Kate Langford, head of online business development for Woolworths supermarkets.
Pickups are available seven days a week from 9am to 9pm; if a flight is delayed and arrived after the pickup point has closed, home delivery or another alternative will be arranged.
Chris Woodruff, CEO, Melbourne Airport said that with approximately 80,000 passengers travelling through Melbourne Airport every day, the Woolworths airport Click & Collect service would appeal not only to busy travellers but also the 14,000 people who work at the Melbourne Airport precinct.
Woolworths will trial its Melbourne Airport collection store for six months, and then consider rolling out more Click, Fly & Collect points at other Australian airports.

Sounds interesting although I can't say supermarket shopping is a priority after I land. Couldn't imagine picking up groceries and the. Having to queue for a taxi with them and my bag. Pass.

CL9: I don't need an excuse to get take-away!
I can't see this idea taking off, no pun intended! When I come back from a trip, all I want to do is get home, have a shower, grab a coffee. I can easily pick up milk, bread and other must-haves from any corner store.
I don't want to have to take my luggage to Woolies, pick up a bag of groceries and then have to manage that plus my bags for getting a taxi, or getting back to the car park, or however I am getting home.

Why would I do this when I can place my order the night before and arranged to have it delivered to my home a couple of hours after I'm due to arrive, therefore negating the need to schlep one or two suitcases, shopping AND groceries home.
I love Woolies, but this is a poorly thought out idea.

The idea has merit and look forward to trialling, often we come back from a family trip and the minute we arrive, someone is off to the supermarket to feed the kids, we tried the coles online option, however flight was delayed and order was cancelled and redelivered the next day.

To be fair, Brisbane's Airport Village Woolworths store (which is a full store), already has click & collect. Sure it's not attached to the terminals (that'd be a bit of a challenge considering the domestic and international terminals are about 3 minutes drive from each other), but it's located on the way out of the airport precinct.

Surely this more aimed at the high frequency business travellers who are heading to Brisbane, Sydney or Adelaide on day trips and can then pick things up just like they had been at work all day. Should be great for them if they don't have a large suitcase for a 4hr trip

Great idea, i regularly fly into Melbourne to stay a few days in an apartment and this would be ideal.

Sounds like a great idea but for people who travel for a long time with their entire family, which to me sounds like leisure travellers. I guess some business travellers will benefit from the convinience but I think the service is aimed more at leisure travellers.

There's a woolworths in my street. Why would I not just shop there as per usual when I get home? I can imagine this service will cost extra too?
