El Al were planning a new Melbourne route by June 2024. It’s been crickets since that announcement and the route isn’t bookable four months out from that date. Do you think the new Turkish Airlines flights have scuppered their plans for this new route?

Yes good question, looking forward to using them - hope they get that underway soon

Please keep this thread on topic. ET is not a place to discuss the politics/conflicts of various countries.

I think it’s disgusting that you silenced one side of the conversation without deleting the entire thread. Shame.

Sid - I appreciate your comment above.

However, I seriously object to the wholesale removal of the original posts on this thread, without some sort of comment by the administrator(s) as to 1) the fact that posts have been removed and 2) no explanatory reason for their removal. Doesn't need to be verbose, but at least as a minimum, note that posts have been removed and / or add any policy direction that may be needed.

I had commented in respect of one of the 'removed' posts. I considered my reply was a logical and fair comment on the current 'demand in the Australian market' for travel to Russia or Israel by both carriers (El Al and Aeroflot). No mention of politics, genocide, rights or wrongs etc. Nothing more, nothing less.

It was clear at that point that the topic had the potential to spiral out of control.

By removing those posts without any note of reason(s) or expression of ET policy - the context of my post, in its current order, now assumes a different meaning, for any casual reader visiting this thread.

I consider that to be poor moderation - especially on a site where 'historical' posts are always on view. Disappointed, to say the least.

In the past, we have seen instances of flagged 'banned' members still posting - with the banned designation still showing over their username. while the red 'banned status' remains. Surely, that is inappropriate ?

I personally have been a member of the AUSBT / ET community for in excess of 10 years - and have unequivocally enjoyed the site on a daily basis. However, I think it is time for a reassessment of the site's current internal moderation procedures. The policy is fine - but the 'moderation' element is in need of review.

Well, David own this site and can do whatever he like to. In contrast USA do not own whole word, yet they silencing all inconvenient truth. And our government their puppets. Proof? Assange.

That’s fair enough but others are allowed to disagree with its content. I agree with your second point

We did not silence one side of the conversation. The topic is purely about El Al flying to Australia.

Definitely NOT caused by Turkish Airlines. The events on October 7th, 2023 and since then to the present time, will have frustrated El Al's plans (to say the very least). When that conflict ends, and the Arab Accord is fully implemented, I'd expect to see El Al resume those plans.
