The seats are terrible it's hard and even worse when your stuck in the middle. My AVOD wasn't working and the food made me sick

No, he'd fly on Qantas Witch. It's a new sub-brand specifically for witches. They fly giant brooms.

Exactly the same plane. I think the food is marginally better on the SYD-LAX flight (VA1). The BNE-LAX flight is shorter, too, which means you won't get as long to enjoy the rather nice in-flight bar.
The seats are adequate, and since my review, they've added a mattress cover to the seats, which does improve things quite a bit in bed mode.
Check out my review of the service from a couple of years ago -- everything's up to the same high standard -- I flew VA1 again last month: http://www.ausbt.com.au/review-virgin-australia-v-australia-business-class-seat-sydney-los-angeles-lax
The return flight, from LAX to Australia, however, does have substantially worse food -- I'd stick to the snacks menu, and avoid the cooked breakfast, on the return flight,
Much appreciated guys thanks.
