When you apply to use points for an upgrade on an international flight - is it first come first served or do FF plat/gold/silver take preference? So does it matter when you apply? thanks in advance

From the qantas website:  Request for an international Flight Upgrade Award will be considered in accordance with the following timetable:

• Platinum One Frequent Flyers, from 7 days prior to the scheduled flight departure;
• Platinum Frequent Flyers, from 48 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure; and
• Other Frequent Flyers, within 24 hours of the scheduled flight departure.

I can't remember when the cut off is, but i know there's a cut-off period, can't remember the time frame tho... i have had instances where i've requested an upgrade a couple of weeks before a flight, and have been given an immediate confirmed upgrade.  So doesn't hurt to submit the request early.

Submit your request early, as yo will be on the top of the Gold FF pile. Once all upgarde requests of Plat 1 and Plat have been processed you will be first up for the Gold FF upgrade request.
