I'm travelling with my business partner next week from BNE - SIN on Etihad and both of us have received a "Plusgrade" invitation to bid on an upgrade from economy to business. Does anyone have any successful bids that they'd like to share? Availability looks wide open in J at the moment, so we've each bid the lowest amount possible.

I checked some other members' experiences, and it's worked well before when availability was >9, but you could always bid just a little more if you really want it?

I did MEL-AUH earlier in the year, bid the lowest possible amount for both sectors and was successful for both.

The cabin was full although admittedly I don't know how many had been upgraded in a similar fashion. I'm also VA platinum but not sure if that is taken into consideration....

I have been offered the plusgrade offer before between AUH - SIN - BNE and I bidded at the lowest amount and was successful for both sectors, all up I paid around $670 to fly J from AUH through to BNE. 

Twas great! 

I placed a $700 bid for BNE-AUH, but did'nt come through. At the check in desk,  i was told that the sector was fully booked. The agent also mentioned that it is normally around $450 to buy an upgrade at the desk on the day of travel (based on empty seats).

Just as an update - both my business partner & I bid the minimum amount (and didn't increase our offer), and both of us have been offered J seats - happy days !!!

Should add - the minimum amount was $395, which makes the overall cost of the flight (including the VA flight from MKY - BNE) around $950
