Since Qantas implemented new upgrade policies (upgrade up till the gate and upgrade for one sector if two sectors aren't available) what is now coming up to two years ago I suppose, I was wondering whether QF FFs (particularly Platinums and Golds) have actually noticed any difference? I.e. an upgrade actually coming through at the gate and not at check-in due to no shows or an upgrade coming through on QF1 for SYD-DXB but not DXB-LHR and therefore the pro rated amount of points being debited. What are people's thoughts and experiences to date?

I had an upgrade denied ~12 hours before take off, LAX-BNE,  but then got one, after boarding the plane.  They paged me over the PA to identifiy myself.  The CSM came along and in the campest possible voice said, "Get your pretty arse upstairs."  Best part was, they didn't take any points!

I had another knocked back SYD-NRT, but plane was full, I was informed that I was first on the list, but the miracle page didn't happen.  CSM came along early in the flight to apologise for the lack of upgrade opportunity.

Had a few domestic upgrades at the gate without any points being taken.
