I'm flying on VA from LAX-MEL in Business class. I am a Platinum member and have selected 5A as my seat. Will this 'private' cabin make me feel claustrophobic or is it the pick of the bunch?

In November last year and was seated in flying SYD to AUH on VA. I did have a chance to take a look at this little area. I found that it was very dark,  completely curtained off on both sides making it very private but close to the inflight bar. The space is about the size of the whole seat, if you are looking to sleep 5A is most likely the best spot.

You don't get the whole open, spacious cabin experience.

Good luck sleeping in the seat if you are tall.

Hi

I am on this flight tomorrow, i was originally on VA1 in 5A but had to change to go via Melbourne and could only get 1A. Will try to change at the airport and will let you know

My wife flew in in last year and thought it was great and exclusive

Thansk Warren!  All the best.  Please let me know how many windows in this cabin too (it looks like just one according to some pictures I've seen).  Cheers

I found row 5 is the pick of the cabin if you plan on sleeping most of the flight, but once that curtain is pulled across you will get pretty much nothing in the way of service (unless you ring the call bell which I personally prefer not to do too often).  If both you and your seatmate tick the 'do not wake me' option on your breakfast cards then it can be a fantastic, uninterrupted sleep until just before landing.  If however you are planing on being awake and watching a few movies or getting a bit of work done, I personally prefer the main J cabin.

Row 5 is one of the best rows for privacy & for sleeping. Caveat -only if you have A/C or H/K to yourself or with your partner. If you are seated next to a stranger it can be a bit weird....

I have sat in 5 H/K a number of times, both by myself as well as with my wife and prefer it over everything bar EK First.

I can get a solid 7-8 hours sleep with curtains pulled and wake up in LA feeling pretty good.

I have never had a problem with the service personally, but I usually talk to the F/As when i get onboard letting them know of my preferances for timing of meals/coffee etc.

I haven't had any drama with noise from the bar either, but I use Stilnox & earplugs for sleeping.

5A's definitely the pick of the bunch -- I sat there on my first Business Class jaunt on VA, and it still beats the forward cabin. See my review for all the details!

Hi AV

Row 5 has 2 windows so no issue there, I sat in 1a and it was 3 windows, plenty of room

It really depends on your choice , service was spot on , will keep you posted regarding 5 a on the way back

Also flew Delta for the first time onto new York and was very impressed with the improvements , get one the side seats if u are flying alone , mid seats are good if you are traveling with someone you want to talk to

Cheers
