Hi most do this all the time as a one off - I have status matched with Air Canada and United Airlines with my Virgin Velocity. Just email them and ask if they would consider it and provide a scanned copy of your FF card and statement.

Statusmatcher.com is pretty accurate. Don't expect too much joy from airlines within an alliance, CX seem to match QFF Platinum with their lowest or second lowest tier though. Different airline alliances are usually good for a match but have all your evidence scanned and ready to send a suitably grovelling letter. (I once got a status match from Singapore Airlines but they needed to see basically all my QFF details). If anyone has had any success obtaining a status match from BA or CX though with QFF upper tiers, I am sure I am not the only one who would be interested to read about their experiences here.
If approved when does the status match begin?, my Q Plat end Nov1 and I apply to naother airline and say its approved for gold or equal to it, does it commence there and then?.

After approval it commences from the end of the month finishing prior to approval. Eg, if approved in July, your annual reset will be 30 June.
