I travel quite frequently between MEL & CMB, the main airline that I use is Singapore Airlines. I used Velocity as my choice of FF program and collected about 980 status credit over the last year. Unfortunately due to a misunderstanding regarding eligible flights (I booked SIN coded flights and not VA even though its normally the same price and same flight!) on the Velocity program I ended up being downgraded to Silver at the end of the year. I haven't flown since Jan but still has 700+ status credits on my account. I'll start flying again next month and was wondering whether anybody had any advice for me. I was lucky enough to get a status match from Etihad and I am a Gold member with them. The main use for my GOLD status was the lounges as I only fly economy. Im not sure whether I can use the Lounges in MEL,SIN (Transit) and CMB if im flying Singapore Airlines (or VA codeshare) with Etihad Gold.

Also just on another note, Malaysian Airlines is normally the cheapest and ONEWORLD with Sri Lankan too... ANY ADVICE GUYS?

I would suggest with the number of SC's that you have in your account just do a few status run flights on VA, cheapest fare as you only want sectors and then be gold with VA. Platinum and Gold do not have too much of a difference.

EY will get you into lounge only if u are flying EY / VA and not on SQ (i think).

Even with the SC's i have, i actually have to acquire another 500SC's to upgrade to GOLD again! Thats why i was thinking forgetting VA all together and shifting to EY since im already GOLD there or moving tl MAS. Im trying to a status match for the EY status with MAS.
