Does the four required sectors on QF or JQ just need to have a QF/JQ flight number or does it actually need to be operated by QF/JQ?
Example:
I fly from SYD-LHR on QF1, then from FCO-SYD on QF8096/QF2? Is that 4 sectors?

Must have a QF or JQ code on the ticket. Therefore the marketing carrier, not necessarily operating the flight. In your instance, this would be 3 sectors. If you travel SYD to LHR on QF1, this is one sector, as you are not changing flight number despite stopping in DXB.
