Booked to fly SYD-HKG on a CX issued ticket under Economy Supersaver conditions. The condition of the ticket does not allow for pre selection of seats, however I have Oneworld Ruby status, Silver with QF. Would I be allowed to pre-select seats for my partner and my two year old, given the Oneworld benefits provided to Ruby status members? Thanks

If you included your QFF number in the booking and Ruby status allows for pre-selection of seats, the CX online system has built in controls to allow you to select seats. However from my experience, the courtesy does not extend to other member of the party who are not OW elites even if they are on the same pnr (unlike Qantas, BA or AA).

Best thing to do is to call CX and ask them if they would be so kind as to extend seat-selection to your travelling party.

Ruby status does not offer 'seat selection' with oneworld carriers. It offers 'preferred seating'. These are not necessarily the same thing.

I would suggest calling CX is the best option.
