I think they've added more flights between Auckland and Maroochydore for the summer season.

They generally don't have more flights but instead upgrade routes from A320's to bigger aircraft like the 777, 767 or 787's

Air NZ increases frequencies only over the winter months to cater for the ski-season and NZ holidaymakers heading to BNE/SYD.
Henrus is correct, if there is high capacity demad, then there will be an equipment swap from A320's and 767's to the 777's.
