Question about Virgin Australia checking bags through to final destination on their partners. I've booked a flight next month MEL-SYD (VA) SYD-AUH-EDI (EY) all on the same booking. A Virgin CSR has just told me that I'll need to collect my bags and re-check them in AUH between connections - is that true? I've never had to do that before with other airlines/routes during a connection.

As your flights are all on the same booking and VA & EY are definitely Interline partners then you can have your bags checked all the way through to your final destination.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago although I was flying VA from SYD-AUH and then AUH to LHR. They tried to tell me that I had to collect my bags in AUH and recheck them. I kicked up a fuss, asked to check with a supervisor and eventually the bags were ticketed all the way through to LHR.

Just be prepared to stand your ground when checking in and don't accept VA trying to tell you otherwise.

Thanks cssaus - I will do. Did think it was strange as I'm in transit in AUH.
