I fly to Vancouver from LAX on Air Canada, as I have limited lounge options as the Star Alliance lounge opens at 9:15, I get in to LA 6:30

I just had a genius moment

as I am Qantas platinum, I can book an AA flight from LAX - SFO for $45USD. I will check in but have no intention of boarding the flight and that way I can use Qantas First Class lounge at Tom Bradey.

for the sake of $45, it's worth it as I'm there for 5 hours

Will this work? Can anyone confirm they've used the lounge at Tom Bradey on a AA domestic flight

By the time you get off the plane, customs, collect baggage, recheck into your AC flight and get back through TBIT TSA it'll prob be close to 7:30- 8am. I'd just wait an hour for the star lounge to open. 

Why not just book the AA flight to YVR?

Thanks hutch, I'm a very impatient traveler. After such a long flight, I just want the ability to go straight into a lounge to shower and eat. Waiting that hour is torture for me 

I prefer to use oneworld when I can as I'm at 12k status credits and almost lifetime gold. The reason I didn't book the AA flight this time is because I booked a multi leg United trip which was about half the price of AA at the time I booked. United code share with Air Canada.
