I’am looking at booking air fares with either Fiji Airways or Qantas to Fiji over x-mas / new years period. Does anyone know how far in advance should I be booking the trip, considering it’s peak period for travel? Should I be waiting couple of months to lock something in or book them now?

Fiji Airways normally has sales on which can just depend and its a bit like pot luck, Qantas expect limited sales and very little change in price.
Just note that it does not matter if you book on the Qantas/Fiji Airways website as the flight/plane will be the same.
The only difference are what's included as the Qantas booking will be a codeshare on Fiji Airways
Qantas Ticket - 30kg Bags, Lounge Access and other little perks like that.
Fiji Airways Ticket - 23kg Bag, No Lounge Access and no other major benefits.
