Hi All,

I have 50,000 AAdvantage Points and want to use them to ugrade to First on my SYD - LAX - SYD flights in september. I have purchased a Business Ticket and am a QFF P1.

Would I be allowed to use my AAdvantage Points to ugrade to First but still get the flights credited to my QFF Account?

Yes, it's no problem (assuming upgrades are available on your flight and you have enough miles under the AA rates) – just make sure your Qantas Frequent Flyer number is in the booking (and on your boarding pass) when you travel.

Here's the potential problem when doing this.  When you upgrade with miles and then credit it to a different FFP, that FFP you're trying to credit the flight to might not recognize the upgraded fare code.  This has been a problem with AA/CX on CX metal using Asia Miles to upgrade, but crediting to AA.  Save your boarding pass and the receipt if you do come accross any issues.

Thanks all. I got the Upgrade from J to F on my SYD - LAX sector using 25,000 miles. They assured me that my QFF will be the account credited with the miles and status credits. However no upgrades avaiable on the return LAX - SYD :-(  but still in J :-)
