does anyone know if you can buy an upgrade from Prem Economy with VA on Long Haul at the airport?

I believe you can, but I believe it's also not going to be any cheaper than buying it before you fly.

If you are gold or platinum velocity, you can also use your points to upgrade - depending on the fare you have already purchased it's between 25k and 45k in points. That has to be done 24 in advance though....

As chrisjrn says, I can't imagine it would be any cheaper doing it at the airport.

Not sure where you're traveling to/ from but I recently upgraded my Premium Economy tkt to Business for my return flight LAX-Brisbane for around $1700 so quite reasonable.
