I previously asked the following question: Can I use my Qantas frequent flyer points to upgrade between Singapore and Dubai and between Dubai and Glasgow even though the flights will be operated by Emirates ("Emirates metal")?

According to one answer I could not. However, I found the following in the QantasEmirates.com FAQ website: "Will I be able to use points to redeem award flights on Emirates and Qantas flights?

Yes, Qantas Frequent Flyers and Emirates Skywards members will be able to use their points (or miles) on either network.

To me this means I will be able to apply for upgrade using my Qantas FF points even though the flights are operated by Emirates (provided of course that I book tickets through Qantas and my tickets bear QF flight numbers).

Can anyone confirm this?

What you've quoted is for award flights, not upgrades. Totally different things.

Under the existing arrangements, you can only upgrade using points when you are flying on a Qantas operated flight. We don't yet know if this will change or there will be special conditions, but don't assume that there will be.
