I will be flying LHR-SYD 1st class. I can arrive at LHR T5 at either 16:40 or at 19:45. My flight to SYD departs at 21:30. The question is do I take the later arrival at T5 and rush through to my flight, or is it worth arriving early to sample the 1st class lounges at T3?
I did LHR to SYD in August last year.. The BA Gallaries First lounge in T3 is nothing to write home about. However i did have a nice meal in the restaurant within the lounge and wine/champagne selection is pretty good. If you are travelling after the 31st of March the Emirates lounge is great.. I prefer it to the BA one
For me, I don't mind at all having a shower, a massage, a few glasses of rather good champers and a wee snack in the BA lounge before trundling upstairs for the better views in the Cathay first class section, and making sure that I've sucked down a movie or a few TV shows onto iTunes for the long flight, so I'd head for the earlier option. (Especially if you're connecting from another terminal.)

I'd say go for the earlier arrival so you can sample the lounge(s).

Hi Malcom,
On the assumption that you're flying a oneworld airline, here's my pick of the oneworld first class lounges in T3.
