Hi there, if you are asking about there being a sort of 'off-peak' and less busy day to travel to the UK, then I'm afraid I'm not partiularly sure, load numbers could change depending on certain events and holidays accross the world. I did however, recently see something about Tuesday being the quietest day for air travel within Australia. Hope this helps.

Alex, if by quiet you mean least chaotic, then I'd suggest you find an airline that gets you into LHR  first after the overnight curfew. From Australia that airline would be VS201 from SYD (Arr T3: 0525h) followed by QF9 from MEL (Arr T3 0530h). Alternatively BA26 from HKG (Arr T5 0450h) or BA12 from SIN (Arr T5 0500h).

At those hours LHR is relatively sane. After 0600h you'll get more flights coming in and with it congestion at immigration.

Hi Alex, weekends are pretty busy normally. However, it really depends on the season. The Northern Summer (Jun-Aug) period is particulary busy so is the year end period (Dec).

I do MEL - LHR with Qantas 6 or 7 times a year and it has always been pretty quiet for me (including during the olympics last year where I had no problem). As said above the flight arrives before the morning rush starts. I have had to change terminals at that time of the day too and I have always been able to get a seat on the bus (usually transfer to T5).
