Yea. It will definitely be awesome if they retrofit those planes that were to be returned from JQ. They are probably defering the refurbishment to the time of heavy maintainence for the A330s so that they don't have to take these planes out of service unnecessarily.

Great job Qantas. This looks much nicer than the lie flat seat that SQ have installed in its A330. It seems nicer and more classy than the CX A330 as well.

  • I agree that CX flights to HKG are not much cheaper than QF but CX often have discounts on the Kangaroo route to Europe where the prices are significantly lower than QF.

  • QF has probably done the maths and it's not suprising given that Malaysia/KUL is mainly of a leisure market with lower yield as compared to SIN or HKG which are larger buisness markets with more demand for premium travel. WIth the lower cost base of MH, they could make a profit from a lower yield...

  • CX is probably being anti competitive in this case as they are going all out to block JQ from being established in HKG. They probably saw what happened to SQ, with its market share at its home base falling after all the low cost carriers started their SIN operations.

  • Although I love to see many more QF flights. I have to agree with MartinS that QF faces a number of key challenges. Adding to that, QF has a high cost base due to high labour costs in Australia and a disadvantaged Geographical position. Australia is pretty much at the far end of the world which m...

  • If I could recall correctly, QF did say something about taking the concept of the new SIN lounge into consideration when designing the new HKG lounge. I am just wondering if they will do away with the seperate F lounge. But I hope that there will still be a First lounge after the refurbishment.

  • Yea. QF did say something about 2014. The current QF lounges at TBIT are quite poor and it's not helped by the fact that it's shared by other OW airlines. The AA Flagship lounge at T4 is much more decent, nowhere as crowded as the TBIT ones.

  • They may well do that when they get the 787s. Doubt they have many spare planes at the moment to add more international flights. Would be great if Emirates flies the A380 from SIN to both BNE and MEL thou. This will enhance the QF/EF offering to SIN.
