As a Qantas Frequent Flyer I know I can points and status flying Oneworld Partner JAL. However, does that flight have to be book through the Qantas website? Eg. I want to fly Tokyo to LA on JAL but can book through Qantas only JAL.

The Qantas webiste says the following about JAL:

About JAL

In conjunction with its affiliates JAL Express, J-Air and Japan Transocean Air, flies to almost 100 destinations in 25 countries and territories.

When flying on eligible JAL fares and flights with a JL flight number, you can:

  • earn points,
  • earn Status credits on eligible booking classes, and
  • earn a Cabin bonus.

So the answer to your question in my view is that you can book your trip through JAL and as long as you fly on a eligable fare class you will get points and staus credits.

JAL is a oneworld airline, thus you can earn points and SCs no mater how you book it, so long as you book into an eligible fare class.
