New Swiss first, business class, Senator lounges at Zurich Airport

Swiss has opened all-new first class, business class and Senator lounges at Zurich Airport's Terminal E, and they're – well, they're so very Swiss!

Which is a good thing, of course: who doesn't love the woods, the warmth, the fabrics and light and palette of Swiss design?

So, feast your eyes on these three stylish havens for Swiss lounge lizards, spread across some 3,300 square metres and all with terrace views of the airport and the Swiss Alps.

The Swiss First Lounge E, as it's called, is where Swiss and Lufthansa first class passengers and HON Circle frequent flyers can luxe it up.

In addition to a five-star à la carte restaurant and an 'American diner' there's a champagne bar and well-stocked wine cabinet with over 1,000 bottles to choose from...

... along with two large private 'hotel rooms' where you can grab some shut-eye (each room has a double bed and views over the airport) plus shower suites, private seating zones and a VIP room.

During the winter months, first class guests on the terrace will be offered a fondue or raclette as they take in the scenic vistas.

But the Senator Lounge E is no slouch, with a cooking station whipping up fresh meals and a whisky bar to tempt with over 120 drams.

This lounge is carefully divided into 'zones' for working...

... and also quiet zones where travellers can settle into comfortable recliner chairs before or after freshening up with a pre-flight shower.

There's room for 170 passengers drawn from the Senator ranks of the Swiss/Lufthansa Miles & More program and Star Alliance Gold members, along with first class passengers on other Star Alliance airlines such as Singapore Airlines.

The Business Lounge E continues this zone concept with bright, open areas and quiet zones with recliners, plus a similar cooking station and buffet as the Senator Lounge – but no showers.

This lounge is for Swiss, Lufthansa and Star Alliance business class travellers plus Miles & More Frequent Traveller card-holders.

Swiss cut the ribbon on all three lounges on the same day as it took delivery of the first of nine Boeing 777-300ER jets, which feature new first class suites (below) and business class seats.

Wow, definately chic in a true Swiss way. Impressive if I ever end up going through Switzerland, this wouldn't be a bad place to relax.

No showers you business class without gold status?!? That's a step up from how SQ does the reverse with no showers in its gold status lounge, but still I feel bad for people making the connection onto the east coust U.S.

Ther's always FRA I guess.

I agree.  Who wants to get off an overnight flight from North America and not be able to freshen up during the connection?

Writing from the actual business class lounge to say that there are actually showers at the lounge.

Missed this new lounge by 2 days. The old one at gate E was aweful!
