Garuda Indonesia adds more flights from Australia to Bali, Jakarta
It’s now even easier to head to Indonesia for business or pleasure, or a mix of both...
Garuda Indonesia is bolstering its Australian network with more flights from Melbourne to Bali and Jakarta as the carrier leans into demand from both holidaymakers and business travellers.
Later departures from Melbourne to Bali
From mid-December 2025, Melbourne will gain a further four Airbus A330 services per week to Bali, taking the total to 11 flights per week during peak periods.
The additions are well-timed for travellers wanting to leave Melbourne after work, with a 7pm departure reaching Denpasar at just 10pm due to the time difference – perfect for heading to the hotel and to sleep, to make a fresh start fully adjusted to their new timezone the next day.
A corresponding 8:20am Bali departure gets passengers back into Melbourne by late afternoon, so they can be home in time for dinner.
These flights sit alongside Garuda’s existing daily morning departure from Melbourne and late-evening return from Bali, giving travellers a broader choice of timings to match work and holiday schedules.
More seats into Jakarta
Business and government travellers heading for Indonesia’s capital will also see more options.
From October 2025, Melbourne–Jakarta is expanding to four weekly flights, operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
These services plug directly into Garuda’s Jakarta hub, opening connections across Indonesia as well as to onward international destinations.
To Bali and beyond
Garuda remains one of the few full-service airlines plying the Australia-Bali route, with a fleet of twin-aisle Airbus A330 jets complemented by Boeing 777s through to the likes of Amsterdam and Tokyo.
Passengers can look forward to a generous checked baggage allowance, meals and inflight entertainment all being included in the ticket price.
The airline also stands out with its free sports-equipment allowance, offered on top of standard baggage.
Items such as surfboards, golf bags, bicycles, skis and dive gear can be carried at no extra cost, up to 23kg.
That’s an especially handy perk for travellers bound for Bali’s beaches or Indonesia’s dive spots.

For travellers looking to extend their holiday, Garuda’s Bali hub makes it simple to add a side trip.
Labuan Bajo, gateway to Komodo National Park, is just an hour’s flight from Denpasar and popular with divers and island-hoppers.
Yogyakarta, home to the UNESCO-listed Borobudur and Prambanan temples, offers a cultural counterpoint to the beach resorts and is only a short hop away.
