Anselmo Buenos Aires, Curio Collection by Hilton hotel opens

Hilton Worldwide is expanding its presence in Argentina with the opening of the Anselmo Buenos Aires, Curio Collection by Hilton hotel.

Blending the modern with the historic amid the city’s Plaza Dorrego Square, guests will find an 18th century mansion waiting for them which is conveniently among a variety of cafes, bars, shops and antique stores to make the most of any free time.

Taking its name from the rumoured first owner of the property – the famous tango musician and composer Anselmo Aieta – the original 1900s façade remains but is complemented by a modern design that includes spacious rooms and upscale dining areas.

Those include Café Anselmo (below), serving up healthy and made-from-scratch Argentinean dishes and grilled meats, and the trendy Anselmo Lounge where locally-influenced cocktails are mixed aside dessert and snacks.

Guests can work their meal off in the hotel’s 24-hour fitness centre before retreating to one of 50 rooms, some of which offer balconies and/or views of Dorrego Square, along with floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in showers, a sofa, free wireless Internet and a 42-inch HDTV.

Hilton HHonors members can earn and redeem points at this Category 7 hotel, while Gold and Diamond members receive their usual perks such as a free daily breakfast and complimentary room upgrades.

Aussie travellers can reach Buenos Aires via Santiago with Oneworld airlines Qantas or LAN, or with Air New Zealand via Auckland from December.
