Bordeaux's Château Montrose joins Cathay Pacific first class wine list
Cathay Pacific’s first class wine list now counts a new vintage red among its ranks with the addition of Château Montrose 2005.
Starting this December, the ’05 will be served on a rotational basis on flights between Hong Kong and London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, joining a considered list of reds, whites and Champagnes.
Founded in 1778, Médoc’s Château Montrose was one of only two St. Estèphe estates to be awarded Second Growth (Deuxièmes Crus) status in the 1855 official classification, a system formed when Napoleon III sought a way to ‘rank’ Bordeaux’s best wines: Second Growth being equivalent to a silver medal.
“The launch of vintages from Château Montrose marks another significant enhancement to our first class beverage programme, which … is sure to delight the discerning palates of our customers,” said Cathay Pacific General Manager Customer Experience and Design, Vivian Lo.
Château Montrose 2005 pairs well with most red meats, game, bolder fish and poultry courses, many Asian dishes, pasta, and even hard cheeses: or, can just as easily be enjoyed on its own.
The addition of Château Montrose to Cathay Pacific’s first class wine list follows the April refresh of its rotating Grandes Marques Champagnes selections.
These include the popular Krug 2004, along with Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blanc 2006, Cuvée William Deutz 2006 and Piper-Heidsieck Rare Millésime 2002.
