Joining the existing line-up of Bose audio gear for frequent travellers are the SoundLink headphones – the first on-ear Bluetooth headphones released by Bose.
With an RRP of $329 in Australia, they’re just as useful in the lounge as they are on-board – taking mobile phone calls on the ground and connecting to inflight entertainment systems in the air.
Bose says that the SoundLink headphones (pictured) deliver the same audio performance as Bose wired headphones such as the new and similar-looking QuietComfort 25 range, but without the inconvenience of cords or cables.

Employing twin microphones to minimise interruption from heavy wind and surrounding noise, ‘adaptive audio adjustment’ technology also automatically changes the volume based on your speech level and the ambient noise.
The headphones can be paired with up to two devices at a time, with an easy option to switch between each.
That’s great if you want to watch a movie on your tablet during the flight, but want to stay connected with your smartphone when you’re able to take it out of flight mode.
If you’re off to London, a battery life of 15 hours should keep you covered during the daylight hours of your journey, while a quick 15-minute charge is enough for two hours of use – perfect if you’re hitting the lounge just a short time before boarding a flight between Melbourne and either Sydney or Brisbane.
Australian travellers can now use portable gadgets from gate to gate on most flights, allowing jetsetters to enjoy a movie or music for the duration of their flight, rather than the brief period when cruising at altitude.
Bose’s current AE2w Bluetooth headphones will be renamed the ‘SoundLink around-ear Bluetooth headphones’, keeping the $299 RRP.
The launch of the SoundLink on-ear Bluetooth headphones comes as the manufacturer looks to axe the QC15 and QC3 models from its line of QuietComfort headphones.
