Cathay Pacific will boost flights between Hong Kong and the UK next month with the debut of a fifth daily service to Heathrow.
The move not only capitalises on growth on the Hong Kong - London route but should help Cathay tap Australian travellers looking for alternative ways to reach London following the shift of Qantas' hub from Singapore to Dubai.
However, there's a bit of a wrinkle in planning your itinerary from Australia to dovetail into the new Hong Kong flight.
On Tuesday through Saturday it runs as CX239 and leaves Hong Kong at 10.25am; but on Sunday and Monday, it departs at 12.20am (and changes its flight number to CX237).
Arrival times into Heathrow are 4.15pm for CX239 and 6.20am for CX237.
The ex-London leg CX238 is locked into the same departure time every day, that being 10.35pm from Heathrow to reach Hong Kong at 5.20pm the next day.
The Hong Kong stopovers in each direction of your journey will afford you the chance to visit Cathay's flagship The Wing lounge, using either the First Class or Business Class sections depending on your class of travel or frequent flyer status.
