China Eastern goes daily on Brisbane-Shanghai flights

IN BRIEF | Qantas partner China Eastern will upgrade its four-times-weekly Brisbane-Shanghai flights to a daily service from November 2017.

Using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft offering business class and economy, flight MU716 leaves the Sunshine State at 11:45am to reach China’s financial capital at 7:40pm that evening, with China Eastern offering onward connections to 217 destinations across China, throughout Asia and to Europe and North America.

The return flight, MU715, pushes back at 8:55pm ahead of a 9:45am touchdown in Brisbane the next morning.

Qantas also codeshares with China Eastern on this route as QF5007 from Brisbane and QF5006 from Shanghai, allowing Frequent Flyer members to earn Qantas Points and status credits on these flights.

“Daily flights allow the flexibility that business travellers and holiday makers need when planning their travel,” highlights Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO and MD, Julieanne Alroe.

In Brisbane, business class passengers plus Qantas Gold, Platinum and Platinum One frequent flyers and Eastern Miles Gold and Platinum cardholders receive access to the Qantas international business class lounge when travelling to Shanghai on a Qantas (QF) or China Eastern (MU) flight number.

Qantas Club members also enjoy access to the same lounge, provided they’re travelling on a QF flight number. Lounge access isn’t provided to Qantas Club members when booked to fly on an MU flight number, unless holding a business class ticket.

In Shanghai, the same travellers – with the exception of Qantas Club members, regardless of flight number – receive access to China Eastern’s international lounges before the journey home.
