CX business seating across the Pacific?

Can anyone advise on what I should expect from CX for business seating on there Pacific routex (HKG-SFO, HKG-LAX,,HKG-YVR/JFK)?

I ask because there are some very attractive NRT-HKG-USA fares at the moment (around $3000 return) - what's the catch?

Majority of long-haul CX business class seats are in the new reverse herringbone - make sure you are booke on the 777-300 (777W).

The only issue I see with the promo fare, if it's booked in I class, is the inability to change dates and maximum stay of only 1 month. If you want the flexibility of date changes, then you need to book in C class which is approx $5,500. Also bear in mind that ex-NRT fares have cancellation fees of $300.

You can get great fares out of TPE to north america too, with better flexibility than ex-NRT. For example, I class from TPE is approx $3000 for 1months stay unlimited free date changes and cancellation fees of only $100. If you want to extend to 6mths stay, its only about extra $150.

Outstanding. Many thanks indeed. NRT is of interest since I am in CNS so a simple hop on a very cheap JQ CNS-NRT to get things started...but I'll check out TPE as well...

CX also flies direct from NRT to TPE, so perhaps you can consider that as the positioning flight. Also you can travel on jetstar to TPE via Singapore to keep costs down as well.

I myself purchase CX business class from TPE-BNE for half the price if I had purchased ex-Australia for the same sector, with better ticketing flexibility. Def recommend visiting the Asia Miles forums at flyertalk to get the best prices & info regarding other departure points.

Thanks, jchen, yes, I need to get back into Flyertalk - been a member for years, but haven't kept up with the trends...need to get more creative since I'm over flying the QF 767s to HNL! Did notice that Air NZ offers 777-200 service AKL-HNL in some months of the year with reasonble buisness class (about $3500 return) - happy to post credits/miles to Virgin or get started on my Aegean target...!

Yes, my preference would be the CX Product for your suggested route.

Excellent service and seats in Business.
