United Club - World Wide access to Star Alliance Lounges

Anybody heard of or utilised either Maple Leaf Club (worldwide) or the United club both memberships appears to provide access to the Star Alliance lounge network (except for Singapore) it appears.

I'm thinking its potentially great value compared - an economy ticket with Star Alliance carrier grants you business class lounge access to any star alliance members lounge
