Flying Mel - Doh next month and there was no upgrade availability with Avios on the route. But if I repositioned to ADL (VA $85 sale fare), I could get an upgrade on the ADL - MEL - DOH route (riddle me that 🤷♂️). For the same number of avios, I consider it a win.
Just wondering for those who have done it before - do pax disembark in Melb? 2.5hr transit time scheduled. Total block ADL - MEL - DOH 18hr 10 mins.... it would be nice to get off.
Thanks!

Yes, pax disembark in MEL during the transit. As a J pax, you should have access to Marhaba Lounge during transit. In theory, you also have access to the Qantas Business Lounge providing you are travelling on a QR code.

Those so-called market-driven prices and especially those in points going to extreme stupidity. If I understand correctly you flying to ADL from MEL and then ADL-MEL-DOH because you cannot get direct MEL-DOH ticket. Once a while back I got ticket SIN-SYD-PER with intention to disembark in SYD purely because I could not get SIN-SYD ticket. But recently with introduction of Classic Scam it came to new level - I saw MEL-LAX (direct QF93) for 755,700 points while AKL-MEL-LAX (QF152+QF93) for mere 234,900 points. How you can call it anything but extreme stupidity?
