Only nominally.  If Etihad opens some codeshares on Air Berlin flights there might be some new opportunities, but it won't help with intra-Europe travel, for instance.

Ironically, Air Berlin is moving towards joining Oneworld in 2012, which probably means more advantages for _Qantas_ passengers.

I asked Etihad's man in Australia this very question. It's a "no" on points at the moment (EY flight numbers on non-EY metal that isn't VA/DJ are not eligible for Velocity points) and there's nothing about destinations either.

Really John, so, if I book EY flights from Sydney to Prague and flights from Abu Dhabi to Prague (operate by Czech Airlines), can't earn that leg even if we book in EY flight number?

That means if I consider going to a Scandinavian country, where Etihad transfer passengers to Brussels Airlines to those destination in Belgium, it would be better off for me to take Singapore Airlines to Copenhagen and Stockholm. Hmmm...
