I think it's relevant for cities with high population of residents from Asian cities. To support a good load factor, the airline need to ensure that they are able to cater for both leisure and business travel.

Kind of like London-Heathrow? Well, it serves Oceania pretty well. Considering Sydney is also a financial services hub, Sydney Airport serves a lot of premium airlines compare to other airports in Australia. If the population increases significantly, we could probably see more airlines coming in....

A better reason to why Qantas should select Kuala Lumpur as a hub is because they don't have curfew on flight arrivals and departure. As much as I appreciate some peace and quiet at night, for the greater economy, I would like Sydney Airport to be 24 hours operation.
