Domestic luggage question. With an international-sized 115cm trolley case, how much backpack can you get away with? Interested in QF, VA and JQ.

Oh, and how much is a single 20kg allowance on VA on a Saver Lite?

Your second question:

Virgin Australia's Saver Lite fare (similar to Jetstar's old JetSaver Light) doesn't include checked baggage and they won't allow you to purchase any further baggage until you arrive at the airport, which does mean larger fees.

Virgin Australia moved to a per piece baggage system, the baggage costs at the airport is $40 (1 piece of 32kg). If you're like me and prefer to split everything into two bags on a weight-based system, the second bag is $60 (for 32kg).

I would recommend purchasing a Saver fare, which gives you 1 x 23kg bag, for a smaller amount more. Then if you need any more bags, you are charged $30 per bag, up to 3 bags in total.

Ah, that explains a lot, such as why the fees are listed under excess baggage. Thanks!
