true, but royal brunei is down scaling and quite a few royal brunei flights from perth to brunei were full while they serviced the route and if the could get a better structure i think it could work as royal brunei doesn't really have much of a network and i think there is room for expansion there. don't you think?=)

Yeah not totally sure.. i think the airline to be watching is Qatar. They have more planes on order than they are currently running. Do you think Qatar should be focussing more on the Australian Market? They are going to Perth this year or next. They currently only going to Melbourne. They are a bit standoffish about sydney because of the curfew. What do u think?

I think that qatar airways is definitely expanding and i don't know, etihad is supposed to be expanding to and with an alliance with virgin things seem well, but qatar is larger and has added perth which i think is stupid of etihad not to already given their greater prescence in australia and not adding perth, it has me baffled. Another thing that wouldn't surprise me either would be for emirates to add flights to adelaide and take some marketshare away from singapore, malaysian and cathay pacific. But yes i believe that qatar is definitely an airline to be watching but they are a bit different in their approach as i believe in a report that qatar airways is a bit pricier (but don't know for sure) than etihad and emirates. I also think that qatar should yes be focussing more on the australian market as the oppurtunities for it are vast , you only have to look at the market emirates has pioneered, avoiding the traditional hubs of Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

truly and really, Australia is in need of another 5 airlines. The market concerning flights conversions is relatibly high according to the beaura of statistics.

I fail to understand where you are coming from. I dont see the country needing any more airlines. It does need more international airlines coming into different cities but no i think u are wrong.

No, AirportAddict, you have the wrong train of thought, Australia's economy would benifit hugly from an increase in AIrline companies. Even if it was just supplying regular flights to Antarctica. Hobart would be a good base for that kind of thing.

your right but there is no tourism setups currently in Antarctica. The sooner something like this gets going, the better.

I doubt there is any more room for another airline in Australian airspace. The low-end of market share has been snatched up by Jetstar, Tiger, Air Australia and aspects of Virgin Australia. Whilst the full service share has Qantas firmly established for domestic services and the classic Syd- J'bourg, South America and Mel/ Syd- Singapore/London and LA, further, V Australia (soon to be Virgin Australia) is beginning to contest some of these routes.

While another carrier is, in my opinion, out of the question for being based in Australia, it wouldn't hurt for routes to be served that can become profitable... Such as a SFO-Mel or NRT-Mel. I think the Melbourne market is being a little overlooked and thus an airline like Virgin Australia could capitalise on that, having connections all over USA with Delta, and perhaps working to become budies with ANA or JAL, (More likely ANA considering JAL bats for the other team being Oneworld...)

Definitley, there are many oppurtunities in australia, but i think its a matter of picking then flying promising routes in an underserved market and this is common in australia due to qantas's heavy focus on a mega hub (sydney) rather than point to point as more common with low cost carriers.
