Hi guys. Just wondering if anyone has been able to purchase an upgrade from Y to J at checking when flying emirates?

I am flying FCO to DXB on Thursday and want to get out of economy if possible.

Economy, trust me, is not so painful when you're on the A380.

As for upgrading you can always ask. Emirates is renowned for ground service, and they might even give one to you for free. That's what I can say, and I really believe it'll work.

I flew PRG - DXB on EK back in July, at check in they were offering the upgrade for around $750.

I've had a similar experience from SYD-BKK last year in April, asked and they were offering for around 800

I flew with Emirates from FCO to DXB in Novemeber and got a free upgrade without asking. I am a Qantas Gold member. I never recieve free upgrades with Qantas and this was my first flight with Emirates.

I purchased my ticket through Qantas but it was an EK flight number no codeshare and still got the free upgrade.

I would not count on getting a free upgrade regardless of EK or QF flight number. If you did consider your self very lucky!

If paid upgrades are offerd on the day your money is as good as any one elses. 

My Dad got uprgraded for free on FCO - DXB and he is only Silver QFF and it was a Qantas booking. It was however, on a large corporate account which apparently helps. Good Luck though :)
